"Welcome to all the Arcania Players! The main Colosseum battles are about to start, please make your way to your seats. Gladiators, please go to the waiting room."
spoke a female voice.
Inside the Colosseum's waiting room sat a lone warrior with a sword sheated by his side. While staring into nothingness he slowly opened his palm in front of him and a menu appeared. He instinctively opened the Messages tab and took a long breath before opening the message he had read a thousand times before...
"Sender: Ari, Goddess of Arcania
Subject: Message from your Goddess."
The atmosphere around him darkened and an eerie silence settled everywhere. Not even the outside voices of the crowd arena distracted the warrior.
He read on:
"Attention insects. As of now, this world is under my command for I am your goddess! As of this moment, I am the sole entity that controls everything in Arcania. All players are trapped inside this game and shall remain inside until one of you peasants defeat me. Seeing as how I am a belevolent Goddess I shall inform you of the way to locate me. Only those who have killed 500 players may know my location and are allowed to fight me,! Fight me individually or in group if you think to can put a scratch on me! Oh and by the way, death in the game means death in real life. No respawns, no second chances. Good luck, not that is going to save you!!!!"
Rage began building inside the Gladiator as he looked at the message.
"Don't f*ck with me..." he whispered in a low voice.
The rage built up inside the swordsman and he couldn't help but punch the nearby wall, the force of his hate mirrored in the punch as a trail of blood began dripping from his fist. The match was about to start so he did a final checkup on his equipment before heading out to the Arena. He wore a standard armor provided by the Colosseum Staff, all Gladiators were to use the same armor to avoid unfairness. His sword, Goliath's Bane, hung from his side and his shield was strapped to his back.
"I will avenge you, Sis." spoke the swordsman as he entered the Arena. The crowd began cheering and screaming as soon as the 2 gladiators came into sight. "Bet you wouldn't be cheering if you were the ones down here." swore the swordsman.
A giant screen appeared in the middle of the Arena. On one side was the name of the swordsman, Saorin, and on the other was his opponent's name, Shinji. 1 minute and counting until the start of the match. Saorin, being a veteran in the Colosseum, quickly began to study his opponent's stance, weapon, and armor. Shinji seemed to be around 6 feet tall with a Two-Handed Axe as his weapon of choice. the swordsman had never heard of him in any previous battles which means that he was a newcomer to the Colosseum. 45 seconds.
His stance was a bit flawed, he held his axe to his side without protecting his chest area at all. That's where he would strike. 30 Seconds. Players of Arcania were allowed to use One type of Magic. Either Fire, Ice, Earth, Wind, Light, or Darkness. A player's magic could not be guessed by mere looks so Saorin had no way to know which type of element his opponent had. 15 Seconds. Double-Handed Weapon weilders would usually pick an element like Fire or Wind in order to power up their strikes or move faster.
10 Seconds. The swordsman took an offense stance, sheathing his shield, disregarding defense for speed. He would try to finish this in one hit to not make his opponent suffer.
5 Seconds. The arena fell in silence as the countdown began to be announced out loud. "4...3...2...1...Start!" spoke the same female voice from earlier. Saorin was already halfway towards his opponent before he even had a chance to react. Saorin aimed at the Axeman's exposed neck to finish it with one shot. The strike connected but something was wrong. The cut was supposed to be clean yet somehow the strike felt too heavy and the sword broke out of Saorin's grasp. He turned to look at his opponent and was shocked to see him engulfed in what seemed to be a dark armor. "Meet my Nightstalker Armor," spoke Shinji "this match is mine." Shinji swinged his Axe downwards towards
Saorin who dived out of the way and picked up his sword. "No matter if his defense is impenetrable, his speed is slow." thought Saorin.
Saorin and Shinji exchanged blow after blow. The swordsman seemed too fast for the newcomer but could not make a dent in the Nightstalker armor. Saorin began charging in for another cut but somehow saw the edge of an Axe coming straight towards him. "Your moves get very predictable after a while!" yelled Shinji as he began to strike the Swordsman
"Heh, i guess you're right" spoke Saorin.
"What the hell? You should be dead!"
"You're not the only person around here who uses Dark Magic."
The shadow underneath Saorin had risen and blocked the Axe shot like a wall.
"Do you know my nickname?" asked Saorin.
"They call you Night Devil. You're the Gladiator with 25 wins in the Colosseum." responded Shinji.
"Exactly, do you know why they call me Night Devil?"
"To be honest, i couldn't give a single damn why you're called that."
"Heh..." smirked Saorin "You're about to find out."
Saorin's shadow seemed to become bigger with each word he spoke, "Your half ass Magic is nothing compared to mine!"
The shadow under Saorin began to engulf his blade which began to take the shape of a Scythe. "Dark Magic: Shadow Scythe" spoke Saorin.
"Hah! That Scythe can't put a scratch on my Nightstalker!" said Shinji as he began to charge towards the Scythe wielding gladiator.
"Idiot..." were the last words the Axewielder heard before Saorin made his move.
Shinji stood in the middle of the arena, his Nightstalker armor still on, and holding his Axe. Saorin had somehow managed to dodge the swing and was now standing with his back to his opponent. "Scythe Tech Number 1: Death's Dance" whispered Saorin. The moment the words "Dance" left Saorin's mouth a giant wound opened in his opponent's armor and reached all the way to his skin. Blood began pouring down to the floor and the Nightstalker armor dissipated.
The scythe turned back into a sword and Saorin began to make his way out of the arena.
"Another day, another kill..." spoke the Gladiator as he left the arena "and one day closer to killing that b*tch."
